Koreans are always uptight this is sad.
I'm early. Lol
Huh?
Just criticize the subs then.
Then the fault lies on the Korean Subtitle?
Koreans always making this a bigger issue. Always finding ways to hate on Japan and bringing up the issue about the "sex slaves" 😅
I'm sorry, what?
They are boycotting the company for wrong subtitle. Wow I am disappointed. What the elderly said in English has nothing to do with sex slavery.
Couldn't they have changed the subtitles? If that wasn't the original lines.
those weren’t the original lines lmao and y’all really reaching god damn 80 years could’ve been anything
Is this the same company that ran controversial ads in China? ie. A Chinese model with freckles. IKR China found that offensive. She was beautiful.
A sales stunt.
srsly…!
국제 망신이다 반일운동이 정신병인데 참….
Lawd, I thought they were also doin blackface 😧😧😧😧😧😧 also, why did they change the translation?
I can see why they pulled the whole ad even though the problem was with the subtitles. Once that meaning got attached to that line, any phrasing would be colored by it. It's unfortunate.
Who was responsible for that legitimately problematic line change? I'm really curious.
If you dont know what happened 80 years ago then shut up and stop complaining and saying crap like I DoNt uNdErStAnD wHy tHaTS bAD lmfao if you are ignorant and saying this is a reach, go take a history lesson. I hate uniqlo 🙂
Her accent is so nice!
One of the worst things about this ad is the way Uniqlo is insulting the surviving victims of Japanese war crime.
The designer, who is age is 98, clearly overlaps with surviving victims, who are mostly in their late 90s. For example, one of the surviving victims for whom South Korean supreme court ruled that the Japanese firms who used their slave labor shall compensate for them was 98 old at the time of the ruling. Many of the surviving female victims are in their late 90s. And Imagine what they would have felt when a woman of their age appear in the this advertisement and say she forgot what happened 80 years ago. Especially in an advertisement of a company that sparked a controversy in South Korea. The ultra-rightists are known to counter the demands of Koreans to admit their war crimes and sexual slavery of many Asian women by saying, “How can we remember what happened 80 years ago?”
The younger designer in the advertisement, who is 13 years old, is also a very uncomfortable and insulting reminder that some of the victims of Japanese wartime sex slavery during WW2 were deceived or snatched from their families and put into the horrible ordeal were as young as 13.
Uniqlo has been at the center of the disputes between Korea and Japan for some time, and they should be well aware of the reason why Korean people are so angry about them: Japan’s denial of their war crime.
There is no coincidence or ‘oversensitivity’ surrounding this ad. It is a plain insult to the victims of horrible war crimes, especially the women. The ladies who started this film should be informed of the way Uniqlo is taking advantage of their appearance.
seriously. at this all time high nationalism with both countries, shouldnt someone double check this shit before it got released? or is this some kind of viral marketing agenda
Say wat now
Huh
