The Sidoarjo Mud Movement is an eruption of the world’s largest mud volcano in Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia.

This on-going catastrophe has been spewing poisonous mud since Might 2006, displacing hundreds of individuals from their properties, in addition to an alarming improve in critical well being points amongst residents.

The reason for the mudflow has been broadly contested with two main theories. Some consider it was attributable to PT Lapindo, a gasoline & oil firm drilling within the area. Others consider it was attributable to an earthquake that occurred similtaneously the eruption.

On this episode of “I Was There”, we meet with Harwati, a mudflow survivor who was born and raised in Sidoarjo.

This like this has happened to the whole world at some point during the last 3-500 years. Most buildings in most city’s in most country’s have their first floors buried by some sort of mud flood, no mainstreams sources ever seem to acknowledge the obvious.

And this is just one of the reasons why we need to remove our dependence on fossil fuels. How many more villages will be destroyed because of careless, lying, unaccountable companies? If this sets us back 100-200 years, so be it. At least we won't be living in an ever increasing polluted planet.
