The 75-year-old man from Hilo was reported lacking by members of the family from inside the park round 12:15 am on Monday.
“Nationwide Park Service rangers and Hawaiʻi County firefighters positioned the person’s physique about 100 toes (30 metres) beneath the crater rim, west of the Uēkahuna viewing space on the summit of Kilauea volcano,” the Nationwide Park Service stated in a press release.
Park rangers, assisted by helicopter, recovered the person’s physique round 8am on Monday native time.
The identification of the person has not but been launched and an investigation is underway.
Kilauea volcano is without doubt one of the world’s most energetic volcanos.
It has been erupting constantly alongside its East Rift Zone since 1983.
A glow was detected inside the crater of the volcano’s summit and “an eruption has commenced inside Kilauea’s summit caldera,” the Civil Defence Company (COH) stated.
