Australia has become an ‘international laughing stock’ over energy crisis
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Australia’s “brain-dead approach to energy” has caused our current energy catastrophe, says Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Yes, the world is suffering from power sanctions imposed on Russian gas, but most of Europe has nuclear reactors to fall back on,” he said.

“Not little ole Australia – we’ve been too frightened to even make power from our vast uranium deposits legal. There’s a law against it.

“And of course, we signed away the rights to our gas on the east coast, to multinationals lock, stock and barrel.

“What an international laughing stock Australia has become over energy.”

It also a FAIL for news for NOT using their platform to continually push governments.
Coal is required at this time for at least base load requirements.
DONT just leave it in the ground.
NATURAL GAS as well. Why would you not use it? It is naturally constituted and usually part of OIL deposits that used to be burnt off as waste??
ALL Governments commit criminal actions against our Society. SELF PERSONAL interests is all they persue. Benefits and Super Plans is the focus. Criminal actions..

First look @ the Labor Govts Since the 1970, they have Proven by their preformance since Whitlam Hawke Keating, Etc Etc that they JUST Cant govern to the benefit of the people, They shut done C F power stations Knowing that prices would rise, they protected them selves by giving the control of our enegry to "Retailers"Who are controlled By the state & Fed Govts.Who dip into their profits to sustain their failing States massive debts Because Energy had & will always be a [political nightmare. Now this mob Labor Just dont care.Oh & they didnt tell you about the 15% payrise they gave them selves. When they got IN Were stuck with this shit.DONT ever vote them in again

We deserve to be an international laughing stock, again and again, we vote for treasonous politicians, that do nothing but sell out and off Australia, for a handful of non magical beans, all so that they can get cushy jobs, as well as well as a massive pension plan once they stop ripping off those that voted for them, and all along the way, we have the bureaucrats helping them along with massive pays, who do nothing to deserve, I'm freaking tired of having no political party that cares that Australia could be a great and well respected nation, with all the assets of this land we should be a shinning beacon of what a democracy can do, instead we are sold down the river, to languish as a devolving nation.

It’s not Australians, it’s our pathetic governments who have sold everything off. It should be Australian government is a laughing stock across the planet.

  14. @lesteraizlewood8457 says:

Our Australian government, regardless of which party has been in power have consistently sold our country out from under the citizens of Australia. What they have done amounts to nothing less than treason. What a despicable bunch of morons. We are totally owned by foreign interests which plunder our natural resources without limits. When visiting South Australia last Christmas, I got chatting to a couple of power workers and they told me that South Australia's energy system is owned and run by the Chinese. If that is true then that could only mean one thing in my mind. Anyone who sells out to a communist government must be in their pocket. I can't think of any other reason why such a miscarriage of management could be considered. If I'm wrong I would be happy to learn the reason why.

I was lucky enough to visit Australia in the 1990's & spent a week in Karratha, Western Australia. I was visiting friends that lived in the city. I didn't understand why Australia shipped her natural gas (LNG) & iron ore to Japan to support the foreign industries. You blokes could have made the steel locally & made a much better income for your country. I love Australia & the people that live there. Hope the future holds good times for you & yours.

"Europe and Australia are facing a common existential threat: a creeping irrelevance caused, on the one hand, by our failure properly to invest and, on the other hand, by our ill-considered slide from a strategic dependence on the United States to a non-strategic, self-defeating servility to Washington’s policy agenda."
