Cadets Kayliah Kennedy and Courtney Owens are the second and third cadets to contract as a part of the Military Reserve Officer Coaching Corps (ROTC) Pacer Detachment at USC Aiken.
Kennedy of Hopkins contracted on April 1 through the Primary Rifle Marksmanship Vary. Owens of Allendale signed his contract on Tuesday, April 26, at a ceremony held on the college’s campus.
Kennedy is an train and sports activities science main in her junior yr.
Owens is an utilized pc science main in his sophomore yr and determined to contract primarily based on a want to serve and defend his nation.

Robert Murphy, director of the Workplace of Veteran and Army Pupil Success at USCA, stated these ceremonies are a major step for the cadets towards turning into commissioned officers within the U.S. Military. He spoke of the success the ROTC Pacer Detachment has had since being reinstated in 2021.

Kennedy is scheduled to fee in Could 2023 and Owens in December 2024.
