It erupted when dozens of other climbers were there. It turns out that Merapi in West Sumatra, which erupted on Sunday 3 December, was on alert status or level 2. A total of 75 climbers were carrying out climbing activities at the time of the incident, 52 people survived, while 11 died and 12 others are still being searched for. So why are they allowed to climb even though the status of Merapi is alert? Do climbers get warnings at the departure post?
