Canada Post rejects union request for binding arbitration
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Despite some major developments over the past few days, there is still no end in sight to the Canada Post labour dispute.

Canada Post has now rejected calls from Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) for binding arbitration, just days after presenting what it called its “final offer”.

Global’s Troy Charles has the latest.

Canada Post is heading for same direction as the Hudson Bay, and pretty soon CP workers will face same fate as HB workers…

  2. @pongyi123 says:

CP is costing tax payers 3 million dollars a day. No raises, no overtime, no expansion ffs. We cant afford to bail CP out year after year. Its time to lay people off, enforce strict adherence to schedules, and reimagine the mail service in this country. NO RAISES!

  3. @russelljohnson6885 says:

Taxpayers didn’t lend money to the Bay for the exact same reason they shouldn’t lend money to CP

  4. @kdryden29 says:

I'm just shocked that Canada as a country has had its oldest company become insolvent and the national postal service is near the same position. Seems like Canada is failing as a country

  5. @Holysmokes-u3c says:

Let the employees vote instead of being with their hands tied waiting for others to decide for them

  6. @Dukes-g2c says:

    Lazy workers

  7. @SuperLovemyman says:

Your union is going to put you people out of work!🤔 because Canada pays, not government!

  8. @glgl7676 says:

LOL, I wonder how much these pro corporate, pro abolish CP trolls get paid to post on YT? $5/hr? Less? Come on, fess up!

  9. @samw7073 says:

My canada post delivery dude just leaves a pickup slip at my mailbox without ever make the effort to ring the doorbell, and this is before all the strikes.. i might as well send my stuff to PO boxes

    Greed.

  11. @eagleone-ff9lz says:

Lost hundred and hundred million every years, unskilled jobs give to private, no more bushit

  12. @danrobichaud says:

That's because CP knows binding arbitration will be more reasonable than anything they've proposed. It would be the fairest decision at this point.

The company needs to change drastically, there's no question. But there's a way to go forward that doesn't annihilate the staff and the services.

At least they're still talking. Stay at the table.

  13. @Theonethatshallnotbenamed9999 says:

Canada Post needs to be investigated. They have been transferring parcels to Purolator and other courier companies they own.
Executive pay and bonuses are guaranteed with CP and being a crown corporation they know they can get bailed out while getting a bit extra from other companies they own.

  14. @markamd1 says:

    Get back to work!

  15. @michaelcollins3141 says:

They serve all markets throughout Canada. No other courier does this. They take the hit for everyone else and provide service. Where are UPS, Amazon, and FedEx in rural communities and the far North…? They piggy back on Canada Post. Don’t dish the service…it’s there, use it! Quit acting like a spoiled Canadian!

  16. @MrJmpowers says:

Enough of this crap. Close Canada Post, ditch the union and fire them all. This is simple.
Mail contracts go to private contractors. Done!

Why keep a dying business? Who in the right mind would.

  17. @Wolverine1987 says:

Canada Post employees have got to be some of the most dense Canadians

  18. @Dam-a-fence says:

Without the mail, my bills don't come.
Without the mail, my government tax rebates don't come.
Without the mail, the flyers don't come.
Poor people and people who don't want to be slaves of China need the mail.
Makes sense why it's dying, Harper sold us to China where everyone is a slave in all but name.

  19. @Dam-a-fence says:

Letter mail is never to be linked to my digital footprint, under any circumstances. That's why I want it in letter form. Because it's not linked to digital form.
Canada Post offers a digital service. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want to use it though, aside from being lazy.

  20. @Steve-cn9of says:

    Close it

  21. @jody-ne7xs says:

Close Cantada post. Time for these Unions to leave!

  22. @kevindanieli2744 says:

Union supports Socialist / Communist Canada. just look at the protest signs!!!

  23. @Jamiegofree says:

Look at the shots of the brand new vehicles. Combined with the new sorting centers…tell me again why Canada Post is "losing" money? Canada Post spends like there's no tomorrow and then blames the workers while still paying executive bonuses.

  24. @garygjl9036 says:

CUPW stole my credit card. NO one should trust these union activists with our mail. automate as much as you can, get 2x a day delivery service.

add, lets talk about the sick calls and no overtime.

CUPW members are deliberately calling in sick to get money they didn't earn. they are not sick they are LIARS.

  25. @SeamusMcFitz-jz9if says:

High school diploma, low-skill, junk mail delivery = $15/hr MAXIMUM.

Great, so packages are just going to be even more delayed now?

  28. @Fightme1v1putin says:

We dont need to pay them anymore they get paid more then anyone else already they can easily live by themselves and afford rent this is a joke if they dont like there job or want to fight like this all the time then simply fire and replace them! They are being way to greedy

  29. @Bryan-h3m says:

It’s our tax dollars. CP should get whatever they want

  30. @cliffpangman3023 says:

Let them all go and have mail sent by email. I get all my mail by emails. Coupons and flyers are online. If people want flyers they can get them from the stores they shop at.
