At least 270 bodies have been recovered after a London-bound Air India plane crashed into a medical college hostel in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad this week, a hospital official told reporters on Saturday.
India’s government is urgently inspecting all Boeing 787s, the aviation minister said on Saturday, adding that the authorities were investigating all possible causes.
Authorities report that Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who was piloting the flight, sent a distress call to air traffic control less a minute after it took off from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was travelling with 242 people on board. Only one person survived.
Indian Journalist Rajesh Joshi gives Global News the latest on the situation, including the story of one lone survivor — A British citizen travelling with his brother, who tragically died in the crash.

A very respectful discussion. Very little leading by the anchor. Good job by both!
Maybe the black boxes in all aircraft should be updated with something more modern than vacuum tube reel to reel tape recorders so the cause of the crash does not require “months for specialists to piece together what happened”.
I don’t know, maybe install some old cell phones on “record” for example?
so awful!
Cheaply made American boeing at fault
The plane climbed for 5 seconds before it leveled off and started descending. How they got off a mayday call is quite amazing.
You can't lay blame until you know what happened.
All runways should have enough length to accommodate a aborted take off, should ban take off beyond this point.
All of these casualties is because it crashed to a building and the fireball. Otherwise pilots could have glided down to land.
Nonsense. The plane was only aloft for exactly 30 seconds. The take off roll began about 15 seconds before that. This would mean he broadcast his MayDay well before he began his take-off roll, which would never happen.
People simply walked off the hindenburg also…
The air conditioning wasn’t working during boarding and taxiing. Air conditioning comes from the engines. What does that tell us about the operability of the engines?
Ahmedabad Airport is well known for its wildlife and birds. ICAO regulations state that no attractants to birds can be located within 13 kilometres of a regulated airport. These include things like garbage dumps and slaughterhouses. I doubt Indian officials obeyed these regulations. I wouldn’t be surprised if the accident findings show a twin bird strike brought down this plane.
Least reliable and least safe airline-Air India. Sponsored by the corrupt Indian government???
Even a first time student pilot would be taught to lower the nose to prevent a stall if engine power is not available.
Who comes up with these headlines? It sounds like the pilot waited until the very end to send the mayday.
Edit: what I meant was that the way the headline is worded, it appears that the pilot waited until the very end to send a distress signal. Thanks for the guys who replied to me. I’m with you on the logic
Awful 😢 very sad 270 people . – God bless those departed souls ! My prayers and condolences to their families!
Passengers reported no air conditioning in the cabin prior to take off. This is an important clue since AC comes straight from the engines.
There is no miracle there, he was not on that plane, if his name is on the planes manifest then i would believe it, but until then, i dont
Invite those ex- BOEING whistleblower engineers to testify! 😠😠😠😠
This makes me wonder exactly who was on this Plane? Was it intentional? It's all very sus. Innocent people were killed and families torn apart….just so very sad!
I wanna know how that one guy just walked away with a few scratches.
I believe it was caused by fuel contamination for such sudden loss of power! I would seriously check the source of the fuel and its water content!
Was the survivor ejected while belted into his seat with the whole seat being ejected as well? Or was he not belted in and this was why he was ejected? I can’t find this info anywhere
I don't believe that such a massive disaster happened due to two pilots' error. Both pilots were extremely qualified. This is a serious system failure.
Boeing needs to be investigated. Boeing employees have reported numerous safety concerns regarding the 787 and 777 jets. These whistleblowers were found dead the night before they were scheduled to testify in court ——reminds me of Mafia movies. Boeing crushed the investigation at that time, too.
lost power, RAT deployed. sabotage likely?
BOEING is hopeless
🌬️❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
indian H&S SYSTEM IS AWESOME IN EVERY SECTOR
Is not the pilots fault. Engine failure . Very tragic The plane had issues and they should of never allow the passengers to board that plane. The technician should be blame for negligence they ignore the issues. May the victims rip 🙏🏼
Pray before leaving home. Always put God first.
It was still on the ground a minute before the crash…
Was it in the air a minute even?
The building there is illegal. This needs to be addressed why a building was there illegally
"Incorrect Performance Calculations"
The plane lift-off the ground if there was an engine thrust, it was inadequate. It’s more probable that the crew entered an incorrect data in one of the parameters on the Flight Management System. I'm not saying that they did. Just my thought.
❤️😞🇨🇦
People in the buildings died and he somehow survived an impact from 300km/hr onto the ground and the giant fireball that was created by instant burning of 100.000ltrs of Aviation Fuel
He jumps out and is walking to the hospital?
and the fact that 2nd black box with cockpit/pilot conversation is still missing is definitely raising doubts
I like Vancouver, BC's airport. The Fraser River on one end, the sea on the other.
Do not like flying these dys ,cos most airline still uses boeing
oh no, anyway
It was sad of their interviewing him and he’s still in the ICU. Maybe they should wait till he’s a little bit better.
The gentleman who survived the plane crash said that the plane hit the building and the emergency door popped opened at the point of impact so he saw a very small opening and jumped out of the plane and ran. When you see the explosion it's an absolute miracle he lived, to say the least.
According to Google, if the lines connecting the landing gear and flaps are in cross directions, the stability and control of the aircraft during landing or takeoff will be seriously affected. This misalignment will lead to increased drag, uneven lift distribution, and difficulty in maintaining directional control, which may cause dangerous situations during critical phases of flight. The pilots are experienced, so the possibility of mistakes and negligence is extremely rare, especially during the takeoff phase. Therefore, as a layman, I doubt that this incident was a well-planned act of sabotage carried out with the consent from the top level
A young man was led to search who was in the plane and he found out a name.
Love and calm to families involved
"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
I am deeply saddened by the crash of the Air India flight. May Allah have mercy on any Muslim souls who lost their lives in this tragedy and grant them the highest ranks in Jannah. May He grant patience to their families.
As for those who died in disbelief or idol worship, may Allah hold them to account with the utmost justice and severity. Indeed, Allah never forgives the wrongdoing of those who persist in their denial of truth." Safi From Pakistan
Hmm, it seems kinda suspicious how steel beams melted on 9/11 and both towers were lost, but some concrete building still stands ? 😅 open your eyes people it was all planned.. you've been manipulated for years and still believe your stupid government 💯 the truth about everything will come out soon enough..
horrible explanation from Indian Media's
GaryBPilot + @HeyFixThis sounds like they worked out the real root cause and represents major design flaw from Boeing+FAA !
Airbuses have independent electrical power to the Fuel Shut-Off Valves as fail-safe to keep engines running in case of massive electrical failure, but Boeing+FAA do not !!
I can even predict Boeing+FAA will cast blame on the carrier Air India for not properly implementing their insane fix of regular 'shutdown & restart' maintenance fixes to cover up Boeing's computer/software failures – try doing that at 625 ft !!!
