The visa policy also coincides with the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
According to Sera, the comprehensive trade agreement brings significant opportunities for Indonesian products to enter the European market and encourages more dynamic investment collaboration and professional labor exchange.
He therefore urged local stakeholders to capitalize on this opportunity by building a strong domestic support ecosystem.
“This includes readiness among business actors, MSMEs, and the tourism sector, while also fostering closer connectivity between communities,” he continued.
He noted that his agency supports all elements of the nation—including business actors, young professionals, diaspora communities, the education sector, and the younger generation—to actively seize this momentum.
“Cross-regional collaboration must be met with readiness and innovation,” he added.
On Sunday (July 13), European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the new facilities available to Indonesians visiting European Union member countries for the second time.
In a joint statement with President Prabowo Subianto in Brussels, Belgium, von der Leyen said that the EU has adopted a visa cascade policy for Indonesian passport holders applying for Schengen visas.
“Indonesian citizens visiting the European Union for the second time can apply for a multi-entry Schengen visa,” she said during the joint statement.
Multi-entry Schengen visa holders can enter the European Union multiple times using the same visa document.
According to von der Leyen, this policy will accommodate Indonesians visiting the EU for travel, work, networking, or study.
“Essentially, we want to build bridges between the peoples (of Indonesia and the European Union),” she emphasized.
