“If exports increase by 50 percent, our domestic industry’s performance will increase as well,” he added at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to Nasbi, with the agreement in place, most Indonesian products are expected to enter the European market tariff-free, which could potentially increase export volumes and, in turn, improve the domestic industry’s performance.
Furthermore, improved industrial performance is also expected to boost employment growth.
He added that besides trade, the impact of the deal will also extend to investment.
Nasbi noted that investment from the European Union into Indonesia has reached US$24 billion so far, and the figure is expected to increase after the agreement comes into effect.
“Logically, the entry of investment will encourage job creation,” the PCO head said.

Earlier on July 13, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the completion of negotiations on the Indonesia-EU CEPA.
Prabowo made the announcement at a joint press conference with von der Leyen at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium.
“Today, we have achieved a breakthrough. After 10 years of negotiations, we have concluded a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which basically is a free trade agreement,” Prabowo said.
He then affirmed that both Indonesia and the EU agreed on all points of the agreement.
“In this era of instability or confusion, I think we set the right example,” he said.
