This initiative was marked by a meeting between TNI-AL Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali and his French counterpart, Admiral Nicolas Vaujour in Paris on Tuesday (July 15).
In a press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, the TNI-AL explained that the meeting was part of the navy’s participation in the 2025 Bastille Day celebrations, where its personnel formed an Indonesian joint military-police troop that led a parade along the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

According to the Head of TNI-AL’s Information Office, Commodore Tunggul, the two admirals explored opportunities to collaborate in various defense-related areas.
“The bilateral meeting covered feasible ways to strengthen cooperation, including joint drills and the participation of TNI-AL officers in the 2026 Jeanne d’Arc voyage,” he said.
He added that the two parties also discussed opportunities for soldier exchanges for educational purposes.
The commodore expressed hope that the meeting would lead to mutually beneficial cooperation and help strengthen Indonesia–France relations.
