Trade Attaché at PTRI Geneva, Aritta Gracia Girsang, noted that the rich flavor of Indonesian coffee is already well-recognized among European consumers, particularly in Switzerland, which is among the leading coffee hubs in Europe.
“This country is one of the biggest importers of green beans and, at the same time, one of the largest exporters of roasted coffee in the region,” she noted in a statement from Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Indonesian Pavilion showcased 10 Indonesian coffee businesses—five curated by the Directorate of Primary Product Export Development at the Ministry of Trade and the other five selected by the Trade Attaché in Geneva from a pool of innovators and coffee entrepreneurs based in Switzerland and across Europe.
According to Aritta, this curation effectively highlighted Indonesia’s best coffee producers and presented a broad selection of innovative, ready-to-export processed coffee products. This breakthrough marks a vital promotional step for the future of Indonesia’s coffee industry.

In recent years, Indonesian coffee exports to Switzerland and Europe have shown a positive growth trend. From January to May 2025, coffee contributed US$6.9 billion to Indonesia’s total non-oil and gas exports to Switzerland—a 267 percent increase from US$1.9 billion in the same period last year.
This growth reflects rising demand among European importers for specialty, organic, and sustainably traded coffee, areas in which Indonesian coffee performs strongly.
From January to May 2025, Indonesia’s exports to Switzerland reached US$1.36 billion, up 62.77 percent from the corresponding period in 2024, while imports from Switzerland were valued at US$443 million.
Consequently, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$913.10 million. Total trade between the two nations reached US$1.80 billion, marking a 47.20 percent increase from US$1.22 billion in the same period of 2024.
