On his way back to Indonesia from Paris, Prabowo made a brief halt at Belarus, where he met with Lukashenko at the Belarusian leader’s residence outside Minsk on Tuesday (July 15, 2025).
“President Prabowo Subianto is the second president after Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit President Lukashenko’s residence after its renovation,” Wijaya said in a statement released in Jakarta on Thursday.
Wijaya, who accompanied President Prabowo during the visit, informed that the two leaders spent about three hours discussing several strategic issues, including opportunities for bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
On trade, he said Prabowo and Lukashenko explored the potential for imports and exports of several agricultural products, such as rubber latex, cocoa, lumber, and fertilizers.
According to the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), President Prabowo said that it was an honor to meet Lukashenko at his home and invited his Belarusian counterpart to visit Indonesia.
“It is a great honor to be welcomed into your home,” Prabowo said. “I very much hope that in the near future you will find the opportunity to visit my home in Indonesia.”
President Lukashenko welcomed the Indonesian leader and noted that he is among the few major world leaders to have visited his residence, including President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He also expressed his readiness to discuss issues of common interest and his eagerness to visit Indonesia again.
“I think we will choose the time and prepare the agenda thoroughly. I will be looking forward to visiting Indonesia again,” Lukashenko said. He last visited Indonesia in 2013, when he was received by then-president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
President Prabowo flew to Indonesia after wrapping up his brief Belarus visit.
Upon landing in Jakarta, he said that the visit was a part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s food security, which he believes partly depends on the availability and accessibility of fertilizers.
“Belarus needs a wide range of commodities from Indonesia, whereas we need fertilizers, including potash,” he told the media at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Wednesday.
