Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA) – The Polonia Immigration Office in Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday announced the deportation and entry ban of an Indian national, identified as GS, for violating visa rules.

GS overstayed his visa, which expired on December 19, 2024, head of the immigration office, Ridha Syahputra, informed. Thus, he violated the Indonesian Immigration Law No.6/2011, he added.

GS and another Indian citizen, identified as SS, were nabbed from Bajak neighborhood, Medan Amplas district, on July 26, 2025, based on tips received from the public, he added.

SS did not have a valid stay permit and his emergency certificate, a one-way travel document from the Indian government, had expired on April 4, 2015.

Syahputra announced that GS will be banned from re-entering Indonesia following his deportation, while SS’s case is being investigated with the involvement of Indonesian government agencies and the Indian representative office in Medan.

“We do not tolerate any foreign national who violates Indonesian immigration rules,” he said.

As reported earlier, the Indonesian immigration authorities across the country are continuing to crack down on foreign nationals found violating immigration rules.

During the January–July period this year, the Makassar Immigration Office, for instance, deported 21 foreign nationals from India, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, Cameroon, China, and Turkey for immigration violations.
