“The time has come for decisive, irreversible steps to realize the two-state solution. Indonesia stands ready to work with all countries to this end,” Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir said, as per a written statement issued by his ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Nasir made the statement at the International Summit on the Implementation of the Two-State Solution hosted by France and Saudi Arabia at the UN Headquarters in New York on July 29, 2025.
Indonesia welcomes the Joint Statement and leaders of nearly 30 countries calling for an end to the war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, along with other global initiatives supporting Palestinian statehood, Nasir said.
Indonesia especially conveyed its appreciation to the French Foreign Minister over the French government’s courageous decision to formally recognize the state of Palestine in September 2025.
Indonesia also commended the United Kingdom’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state by September 2025 unless Israel ends its military offensive and commits to long-term peace by implementing the two-state solution.

The UN International Summit produced the “New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Questions of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” which received widespread support from UN member states.
The declaration emphasized the importance of immediately ending the war in Gaza, lifting the blockade on humanitarian aid, and supporting the immediate implementation of the Arab-OIC Reconstruction Plan to rebuild Gaza and begin the process of achieving a two-state solution.
The declaration also included a summary of eight working groups on key issues that require attention to end the war in Gaza and implement post-war negotiations between Palestine and Israel to achieve a two-state solution.
The issues include ceasefire implementation, security, humanitarian aid, recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, the humanitarian situation in the West Bank, plans to achieve an independent and sovereign Palestine, and support for economic development and reform of the Palestinian Authority.
The International Summit was mandated by the 2024 Emergency Session of the UN General Assembly as a means to implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the issue of Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
The conference was initially proposed by the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), of which Indonesia is a vice-chair.
Ahead of the conference, Indonesia and Italy co-chaired the security working group, which produced recommendations for achieving lasting security in Gaza and the West Bank following the Gaza war.
The working group held intensive consultations to develop concrete steps to ensure the security of Palestine and Israel, as well as the wider Middle East region.
