He made the statement after attending the finals of the Amman Men’s World Tennis Championship and visiting the Bali Beach Country Club Tennis Field on Sunday. The venue was developed by several private companies.
“There’s a tribune and a Grand Slam-standard arena. Ten pickleball and padel tennis courts will also be built. Once everything is completed, I believe Bali can become a world-class destination and host global championships like the Grand Slam and ATP,” he said.
Ariotedjo commended the private companies involved in the project, saying it reflects growth in Indonesia’s sports industry.
“This is something Indonesia can be proud of — because the development was not done by the government, but by the private sector, using private investment. It shows that the climate for our sports industry is improving,” the minister stated.

He also explained that the facility is integrated with tourism attractions such as hotels and recreational areas, which further enhances Bali’s potential as a sports tourism destination.
The development of the racket sports arena aligns with the sports tourism vision outlined in Astacita, the strategic framework promoted by President Prabowo’s administration.
“In President Prabowo’s Astacita, sports tourism is one of the priorities — including the development of international-standard sports venues,” Ariotedjo noted.
He added that the government is currently reviewing incentive and fiscal policies to encourage private sector participation in the national sports industry.
“We are evaluating (incentive schemes), and this (tennis arena in Bali) is a prime example of private sector investment,” he emphasized.
Ariotedjo expressed hope that the arena will inspire more private companies to invest in Indonesia’s growing sports sector.
