Sunday’s top story, in Newfoundland, firefighters are battling dangerous and challenging wildfire conditions. High winds and hot, dry weather are fueling three major fires across the island, two of which are on the Avalon Peninsula. The Kingston fire has prompted a regional state of emergency and multiple evacuation orders. It has quickly grown to more than 5,000 hectares. Two water bombers from Quebec have arrived, but others have been cancelled or delayed.
While the majority of out-of-control wildfires are in the northern Prairies, there are intense hot spots on the West Coast and across Atlantic Canada. In New Brunswick, with two fires burning out of control, the province has brought in restrictions on access to Crown lands and wooded areas. Johnny James looks at the fire situation.
In Gaza on Sunday, there were more reports of Palestinians being killed while seeking aid. Witnesses and health officials said at least 31 people died, accusing Israeli forces of firing at crowds. Meanwhile, Israel is not backing down on plans to increase its military offensive in Gaza, despite international condemnation. Global’s Candice Cole has the story.
Plus, the streets of Montreal were packed for the city’s Pride parade Sunday. Despite some controversy leading up to it, thousands of people showed up downtown to celebrate and embrace diversity. Global’s Elizabeth Zogalis reports.

Canada is woefully understocked with water bombers. We are terrible at procuring planes and all the "green" hype should have been aimed at getting more rather than giving rich people rebates on electric cars.
