Faturachman, head of Bank Indonesia’s Papua office, said the lineup featured seven Arabica and one Robusta variety—Tangma, Peneli, Maksum, Kiwirok, Bpiri, Koragi, Homhom, and Ambaidiru.
“This event is the result of collaboration between BI Tokyo and Kopi Kalyan Tokyo, and is part of the 8th Papua Coffee Festival and Indonesia Specialty Beans Festival,” he said in Jayapura on Thursday.
The event also introduced cross-border QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) transactions, allowing visitors to purchase coffee using Indonesian digital payment systems in Japan.
“This is a strategic move to take Papuan coffee global and help MSMEs compete internationally,” Faturachman said.

Visitors sampled brews prepared by 2023 Indonesia Barista Champion Patrik Vinsensius, who showcased Bpiri coffee using both manual and milk brew methods.
“Papuan coffee offers a unique sweet and fruity profile due to the high-altitude growing conditions and natural processing,” he added.
Faturachman said Papua Coffee Week 2025 also marked progress in implementing cross-border digital payments, with QRIS enabling direct purchases at Kopi Kalyan Tokyo.
The event follows Bank Indonesia’s Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) 2025 program, which saw Papua export 1.5 tons of green coffee beans and 80 kilograms of roasted beans to Saudi Arabia, the United States, and China.
He hopes the promotion in Tokyo strengthens the global branding of Papuan coffee and expands market reach for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The showcased varieties come from various coffee-producing regions in Papua, including Tangma, Peneli, Maksum, Kiwirok, Bpiri, Koragi, Homhom, and Ambaidiru.
