RI, OIC ambassadors in Romania held solidarity stand for Palestine

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ambassador to Romania Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, together with the ambassadors of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Romania held a solidarity stand for Palestine in Bucharest, on Thursday.

“We call on the international community to take an active role in stopping Israel’s actions and creating peace in the Middle East,” said Suryodiningrat, familiarly known as Dimas, in a press statement from the RI Embassy in Bucharest received by ANTARA, here on Friday.

In the solidarity stand, the ambassadors of the OIC countries met with Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

The ambassadors also called for condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza, Palestine, and its recent attack on Doha, Qatar.

In his statement representing the ambassadors of the OIC countries, Suryodiningrat expressed his appreciation for the Romanian Government’s support for Palestine through its recognition of the Palestinian state and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu welcomed the ambassadors of the OIC countries to Romania and expressed her gratitude for the open dialogue and close cooperation.

Toiu stressed the urgency of expanding humanitarian access to Gaza, renewing the ceasefire agreement and releasing the hostages.

Following a meeting with the Romanian Foreign Minister, the ambassadors of the OIC countries held a solidarity stand in front of the Palestinian Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.

The ambassadors expressed deep concern over the developing situation in Palestine and strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Doha, Qatar.

During the solidarity stand, Suryodiningrat also called on all countries to stop Israel’s actions in Palestine.

The solidarity stand was attended by ambassadors of OIC countries in Romania, including Indonesia, Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey.
