Masses rally at UN Headquarters to condemn Israel's acts of genocide

New York, Amerika Serikat (ANTARA) – A number of people held a demonstration in front of the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, United States, on Monday (Sept 22), condemning Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people.

“Free Palestine now, free Palestine,” shouted one of the protesters.

They demanded an immediate end to Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza.

The demonstration in front of the UN Headquarters was held because the organization was deemed to have failed to fully resolve the conflict between the two countries.

They also strongly criticized the US government for supporting Israel in the conflict.

“This country is shameful, giving billions of our tax dollars to Israel to commit genocide against the people of Gaza,” said one protester.

During the demonstration, they carried posters and signs condemning Israel. They also waved Palestinian flags as a show of support.

One of the agenda items for the 80th UN General Assembly on September 22 was the High-Level International Conference (Summit) for the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

The summit, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, aimed to mobilize more countries to recognize the State of Palestine. President Prabowo was one of the Heads of State who delivered a statement at the forum.

In his speech, Prabowo affirmed Indonesia’s support for Palestinian independence. The Head of State also expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.

Prabowo condemned all forms of violence against civilians, especially women and children, the threat of famine, and the humanitarian disaster.

He emphasized that the international community’s historical responsibility concerns not only the future of Palestine, but also the future of Israel and the credibility of the UN itself.

The President also expressed Indonesia’s readiness to participate in the journey towards peace, including by sending peacekeeping troops.
