The statement was delivered by President Prabowo during the High-Level Conference on Palestine and the Two-State Solution held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Monday.
“We must guarantee statehood for Palestine, but Indonesia also declares that once Israel recognizes the independence and statehood of Palestine, Indonesia will immediately recognize the state of Israel and we will support all guarantees for the security of Israel,” he declared.
The statement was met with strong applause from delegates in the General Assembly Hall.
President Prabowo also emphasized that the New York Declaration has provided a just pathway toward peace between Israel and Palestine. The New York Declaration was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on September 12, 2025, in response to the genocide in Gaza carried out by the Israeli military.
“The New York Declaration has provided a peaceful and just pathway toward peace,” he mentioned.
Furthermore, Prabowo condemned all acts of violence against civilians, including women and children in Gaza. Tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza have lost their lives as a result of the genocide carried out by the Israeli military.
“We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians. Therefore, it is today with dignity that we gather to take our historical responsibility. This responsibility speaks not only to the fate of Palestine but also to the future of Israel, and also the very credibility of the United Nations,” Prabowo stated.
Concluding his speech from the UN podium, President Prabowo delivered an urgent call to unite towards peace.
“Peace now. Peace immediately. We need peace!” he said.
The High-Level Conference on Palestine and the Two-State Solution is part of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The summit was co-initiated by France and Saudi Arabia, represented respectively by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
