Trump praises Prabowo for role in Middle East peace efforts

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received direct praise from United States President Donald Trump for his contribution to peacebuilding efforts in the Middle East during the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday (October 13).

Trump expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo and other heads of state attending the high-level meeting during a press conference following the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement.

“Also with us is President Prabowo, a very incredible man from Indonesia,” Trump said as he turned to his right to acknowledge the Indonesian leader, inviting him to step closer to the podium.

The two presidents then approached each other, shaking hands and exchanging greetings in a show of mutual respect.

Trump went on to praise Indonesia under Prabowo’s leadership, describing it as a large and powerful nation capable of achieving remarkable progress. “It is great to have you,” he added.

Their cordial rapport was evident throughout the summit, where Trump served as co-chair. Dressed in a grey suit, President Prabowo was seen shaking hands and engaging in friendly conversation with the US leader during the official photo session.

After posing with Trump, all participating leaders gathered for a group photo. On that occasion, President Prabowo stood in the front row, flanked by French President Emmanuel Macron and United Arab Emirates Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The group photo symbolized the solidarity and shared commitment of world leaders to advancing peace in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine.

Following the photo session, President Prabowo and other leaders proceeded to the main hall for the signing of the peace agreement by President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Seated next to Macron, President Prabowo witnessed the signing ceremony alongside other world leaders. His presence at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit reaffirmed Indonesia’s long-standing commitment to promoting conflict resolution and humanitarian efforts on the global stage.
