This is quite an achievement for the creative economy players involved, from fashion, crafts, fine arts, performing arts, photography, film, music, and the integration of new technologies.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka has won a Silver Award in the Exhibition Design – Self-Built Pavilions Type A category (for pavilions larger than 1,500 square meters) from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) for its innovative design and concept.

“This award is the result of collaboration from all elements of the nation. The Indonesian Pavilion symbolizes the spirit of mutual cooperation, creativity, and strong cultural diplomacy,” said Vivi Yulaswati, Consul General of the Indonesian Pavilion in Osaka, in a statement on Wednesday.

Opened on April 13, the pavilion carried the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future.”

According to Yulaswati, the Indonesian Pavilion represented the country’s vision of building a balanced and sustainable lifestyle, in harmony with nature, culture, and the future.

In the same award category, China received the Gold Award, while Canada secured the Bronze.

Yulaswati explained that the pavilion’s design and concept were creatively developed with input from Ragowo Hediprasetyo, who presented a holistic view of Indonesia, highlighting the connection between people, culture, and nature.

The exhibition reflected Indonesia’s role as a hub for global cultural exchange, trade, and industry, while promoting sustainability through the principles of the green and blue economy.

Installations featuring wood, wickerwork, and tropical landscapes served as a medium to convey the message of harmony between tradition and innovation, she remarked.

Throughout its run, the pavilion hosted more than 104 business forums and one-on-one meetings, resulting in investment commitments worth US$28.3 billion, Yulaswati detailed.

Of this total, 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), nine Letters of Intent, two Joint Venture Agreements, one Joint Statement, and 11 tour package sales agreements were signed.

Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy stated that Indonesia’s participation was not merely about showcasing an exhibition space but about achieving broader goals, including promoting Indonesia’s global brand, strengthening international cooperation, attracting investment, and promoting tourism.

At the pavilion’s closing, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya noted that the creative economy products displayed were well-received and achieved strong sales.

“This is quite an achievement for the creative economy players involved, from fashion, crafts, fine arts, performing arts, photography, film, music, and the integration of new technologies,” Harsya said.

With a Silver Award and billions of dollars in investment commitments, Indonesia concluded its participation at the 2025 Osaka Expo with over 3.5 million visitors, exceeding the initial target of 2.8 million.
