Speaking at the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Hartarto stressed that the Indo-Pacific region plays a crucial role as the epicenter of the world economy.
In an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Hartarto noted that the region contributes nearly two-thirds of global economic growth and accounts for almost half of the world’s trade volume.
The Indo-Pacific is home to nearly 60 percent of the world’s population and generates over 50 percent of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
To maintain this momentum, Hartarto called on Indo-Pacific countries to foster inclusive growth and ensure equal opportunities for all parties involved.
He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to promoting inclusive growth by actively contributing to enhancing regional connectivity and competitiveness, in line with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) vision, which is based on principles of mutual respect, openness, and regional stability.
Hartarto also highlighted the importance of government-private sector partnerships in driving innovation and investment, emphasizing that strong synergies between the business community and governments form the foundation for resilient economic growth.
He expressed optimism that Indonesia, together with other Indo-Pacific nations, can strengthen regional cooperation to tackle global economic challenges and transform them into opportunities for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
The AIPF 2025 focused on concrete projects such as the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework, the ASEAN Power Grid, and cross-border payments, all of which are expected to deepen regional economic integration.
This dialogue and cooperation forum is part of the 47th ASEAN Summit series, aimed at pushing for the real implementation of strategic projects under the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
The forum brought together business leaders, investors, governments, and stakeholders to explore partnerships focused on inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development in the region.
