Gov to link system for direct Umrah with Saudi Arabia's Nusuk

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is developing an information system that will be integrated with Nusuk, the official Saudi Arabian platform, to allow the public to perform Umrah independently or directly.

This initiative follows Saudi Arabia’s launch of the “Direct Umrah” scheme through the Nusuk platform, which allows prospective pilgrims to register and book Umrah services electronically without going through external parties such as Hajj and Umrah agencies.

The policy is outlined in a diplomatic note conveyed by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jakarta to Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the launch of the Nusuk Umrah initiative.

“We will further study the technical aspects of opening direct public access to Nusuk, or the Business-to-Consumer (B2C) model,” said Ichsan Marsha, spokesperson for Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Marsha noted that the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s digital innovation, which deserves appreciation. He said the ministry welcomes the policy and, in line with Law No. 14 of 2025, will integrate it into its new system to protect pilgrims and ensure a fair Umrah ecosystem.

“Kemenhaj is preparing an information system that will be directly integrated with the Nusuk platform, ensuring that all Indonesian Umrah pilgrims—whether through travel operators or independently—are accommodated, recorded, monitored, and protected in accordance with established service standards,” Marsha stated.

He explained that the ministry’s system will adopt a Business-to-Business-to-Consumer (B2B2C) model to ensure that everyone registering independently through Nusuk remains under government oversight and protection.

“In principle, Kemenhaj will ensure that every innovation remains focused on the protection, safety, and comfort of Indonesian Umrah pilgrims,” he added.

Kemenhaj also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining close coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, including through diplomatic channels and digital system collaboration.

This effort aims to ensure that every innovation aligns with national regulations while enhancing the quality and ecosystem of Umrah services for Indonesian pilgrims.
