Almonty Industries, a global producer of tungsten concentrate, has begun operations in the US after it acquired 100% ownership of the Gentung Browns Lake tungsten project in Beaverhead County, Montana.
This transaction adds one of the most advanced undeveloped tungsten assets in the US to Almonty’s global portfolio.
The Gentung Browns Lake project features NI43-101 total mineral resources of 7.53 million tonnes at 0.315% tungsten trioxide, based on a 0.10% cut-off.
The tungsten deposit is a contact metasomatic garnet skarn hosting scheelite mineralisation and is due to be mined via a room-and-pillar underground method in competent skarn rock.
Metallurgical test works indicate more than 90% tungsten recovery and 20–25% garnet recovery.
The project benefits from established infrastructure including road access, nearby power, water rights and an existing mill site.
Almonty holds exclusive rights to explore and develop the Gentung Browns Lake corridor, targeting potential production readiness by the second half of 2026 (H2 2026).
Initial design expectations suggest an output of approximately 140,000 tonne units per year.
The acquisition reinforces the US’ domestic tungsten supply and provides Almonty with additional capacity to support future deliveries to defence contractors and other strategic industries.
This move comes as demand grows for secure, non-Chinese sources of tungsten.
The acquisition aligns with US Government initiatives to enhance critical mineral independence across defence, aerospace and advanced technology sectors.

The Gentung Browns Lake project acquisition continues Almonty’s vision to build an integrated, Western-based tungsten platform spanning Europe, Asia and North America.
Earlier in January, Almonty announced an exclusive offtake agreement with SeAH Group to supply the entire production of molybdenum from Almonty’s Sangdong Molybdenum project in South Korea.
