Johannesburg, South Africa (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced plans for Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali to meet with President Prabowo Subianto next year.

The plan was conveyed during Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s attendance at a bilateral pull aside meeting with several partner countries on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday (November 22).

“Regarding the bilateral meeting, Angola and Ethiopia expressed their desire to visit Indonesia,” Hartarto said in a press statement on Saturday.

According to him, both countries had shown their interest in exploring cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in the agricultural sector.

The minister added that several Indonesian investors have also penetrated the Ethiopian market.

On the other hand, Hartarto mentioned that Ethiopia requires supplies of palm oil and its derivatives from Indonesia.

“They have already expressed interest in certain sectors, including agriculture. We will convey this to the President and to deepen the cooperation between the various countries,” he continued.

In addition, Hartarto pointed out Finland’s interest in exploring cooperation with Indonesia in the form of data governance and telecommunications.

“Finland, as a high-tech country, is interested in entering our data centers and also in the telecommunications sector,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Vice President Gibran held bilateral meetings with six heads of state and world institutions which are the Prime Minister of Ethiopia; the Prime Minister of Vietnam; the President of Angola, who is also the Chair of the African Union; the President of Finland; the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO); and the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Vice President Gibran’s attendance at the G20 Summit was a direct assignment from President Prabowo, who was unable to attend.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the decision was made since the high-level meeting with world leaders coincided with several important domestic agendas of the President.
