The ministry’s Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, said the first molasses export to Australia is a good indicator for future export-focused villages and will spur more villages to create globally competitive products.
“CV Mitra Tata Usaha’s ability to seize market opportunities demonstrates the quality of Indonesian products competing in the international market. We hope this step will pave the way for strengthening and diversifying Indonesian exports to Australia,” she noted in a statement on Tuesday.
Puntodewi explained that this first export to Australia is one of the results of the Surabaya Export Center’s assistance in penetrating markets in various export destination countries.
She then detailed the value of Indonesian molasses exports to the world from January to September 2025 stood at US$3.48 million. Indonesia’s main export destinations are Guinea, Somalia, Sierra Leone, the Ivory Coast, and Malaysia.
In addition, Puntodewi expressed support for various initiatives offered by Export Center Surabaya for exporters and potential exporters, such as export regulation guidance, market consultations, business matching, and assistance in improving product quality.
According to her, these services play a crucial role in encouraging business actors, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to prepare to compete in the global market.
The Export Center, under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade, serves as a strategic initiative to broaden outreach to Indonesian businesses in transitioning into exporters and engage international buyers.
The Export Center also motivates businesses to improve the competitiveness of their products. In addition to Surabaya, the centers are located in strategic areas, namely Balikpapan, East Kalimantan; Batam, Riau Islands; and Makassar, South Sulawesi.
“We are committed to providing comprehensive support through training, market information, international trade promotion, and certification assistance. This is expected to expand the reach of Indonesian MSME products in the global market,” Puntodewi remarked.
