Adelaide Airport has marked a milestone with the arrival of its first direct flight from the United States
The Dreamliner’s arrival from San Francisco signifies the commencement of a new direct connection between South Australia and the US.
Passengers completing the journey experienced a reduced travel time, with the flight clocking in at just under 16 hours.
Many passengers used the service to reunite with family and loved ones.
“It feels very good, very nice to see you guys again, I’ve missed you so much,” Sam Clapton said.
Frederick Cheng, a frequent traveller, said the route offered convenience.
“It’s different because I was here before with the connections through to San Francisco to Sydney, [Qantas from] Sydney to Adelaide, so this is much better,” Cheng said.
Beyond passenger convenience, the new route is expected to provide a boost to South Australian exports.
The introduction of this service increases the number of international airlines operating from Adelaide Airport.
“This doesn’t just happen, it’s not an accident, it is a representation of where South Australia is at this moment in time” Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
