Prabowo arrived at 10 Downing Street wearing his trademark black kopiah cap and a grey suit, walking toward Starmer who was waiting at the iconic door of the prime minister’s residence.
The visit marked their second encounter at the venue, after a first meeting there on November 21, 2024, underlining the growing tempo of high-level exchanges between Jakarta and London.
Starmer greeted Prabowo warmly, with the two exchanging brief remarks, shaking hands and posing for photographs before entering the building.
A light moment followed when the Prime Minister’s Office cat, widely known as “Larry the Cat”, approached the Indonesian leader at the entrance, drawing smiles from Starmer and journalists covering the visit.

The two leaders then proceeded upstairs to the meeting room, where Starmer expressed appreciation for the increasingly close ties between Britain and Indonesia.
Prabowo echoed the sentiment, highlighting cooperation in the maritime sector as well as education links, particularly with Britain’s Russell Group universities, which he said offered new opportunities for partnership.
He added that he was pleased to see “many new strategic avenues” opening between the two countries, describing the London meeting as a key part of his first official agenda during the visit.
Prabowo was scheduled to continue his trip with talks at Lancaster House with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and an audience with King Charles III on Wednesday.
