Prabowo, King Charles III discuss conservation

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto and King Charles III discussed with a number of philanthropic groups and conservation activists at Lancaster House, London, here on Wednesday morning, while sipping hot tea during the winter in the city.

In Great Britain, it is a hereditary tradition to drink tea in a certain way, so that tea, in its various forms, has a special position in their daily lives.

The British nobility maintained the tradition of drinking tea from generation to generation.

Upon entering the meeting room, King Charles stopped in his tracks when he saw the table serving tea to the attendees.

He then poured milk into his own teacup and carried it into the meeting room. Prabowo did the same, carrying his own teacup as he entered the meeting room in the Main Hall of Lancaster House.

In the meeting room, Prabowo and Charles, each carrying a cup of tea, greeted the event participants, who included philanthropists and environmental activists.

After greeting a number of event participants, the two world figures chatted with several philanthropists and several officials from Indonesia.

At the meeting, officials accompanying Prabowo were the President’s Special Envoy for Climate and Energy Hashim Djojohadikusumo; Minister of Environment Hanif F Nurofiq; Minister of Forestry Raja J Antoni; and Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Budisatrio Djiwandono.

There is also Cabinet Secretary Teddy I Wijaya, and President Prabowo’s son, Ragowo H Djojohadikusumo, who is familiarly called Didit Hediprasetyo.

In the meeting room, there were several posters showcasing conservation efforts, including those aimed at protecting elephant habitats. There was also a poster from an economic alliance focused on environmental preservation.

The meeting at Lancaster House with the philanthropists lasted about 45 minutes.

After the event, Charles left the venue on foot and headed to his residence at St James’s Palace. The light rain in London at that time didn’t deter Charles from walking home.

Five minutes later, Prabowo followed Charles to St. James’s Palace, holding his own umbrella as he walked to St. James’s. Teddy, Prabowo, Didit, and Hashim accompanied Prabowo.

At St. James, Prabowo and Charles continued to meet to discuss a number of environmental issues, including those related to elephant conservation.

Charles currently holds the position of patron for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-UK.

The meeting at St James was closed to journalists.

After the meeting at St James’s Palace, Prabowo is scheduled to continue his journey to the airport to depart for Davos, Switzerland.
