Seven lecturers of Delhi College’s Lecturers for Motion and Improvement have written to Yogesh Singh, vice-chancellor, DU, urging him to ‘assessment’ the suspension of appointment of instructing and non-teaching staff within the varsity’s 32 faculties with out common principals.
The transfer comes after the varsity’s assistant registrar, stated in a letter dated Might 18, 2022 to school governing our bodies, that the appointment of instructing and non-teaching posts shouldn’t be allowed both on a contract, advert hoc or common foundation until an everyday principal is appointed.
The lecturers, together with the members of the Tutorial Council and Government Council, have stated that the notification will adversely have an effect on the standard of the teaching-learning course of in such faculties that are already short-staffed.
The lecturers identified that the notification additionally annuls the appointments with retrospective impact.
“Such steps shall unnecessarily penalise the involved staff, together with the instructing workers, with no fault of their very own. Therefore, the stated letter dated 18.5.2022 must be reviewed with none delay,” the letter highlighted.
The lecturers requested Singh to take applicable steps to allow the school GBs to “proceed performing their duties, vested in them by the college statutes in order that the universities shall proceed to operate effectively with none disruption”.
At current, these 32 faculties of Delhi College would not have common principals, officers stated. Within the Might 18 letter, it was conveyed to high schools to take expeditious motion in convening the assembly of the choice committee for appointing common principals of the universities.
