Johnny Noviello, a 49-year-old Canadian and U.S. permanent resident, died in U.S. immigration custody after a recent deportation order tied to criminal convictions. What were the circumstances of his arrest, and how did he die?
Immigration Lawyer Richard Kurland says the case highlights concerns about detention conditions and the unpredictable treatment Canadians may face at the U.S. border.
“Everything is fair game now… A Canadian passport will not shield you from American detention,” he said.

he was a crimal , being , in the usa , since 1988 i belive , so why dose all this matter ,
Criminals get incarcerated. Criminals have substance abuse issues and often medical issues and most probably mental health issues. THIS IS NEWS?!!?
So the dude was a bad boy and legitimately arrested….
yeah, do not come here with ideas of involving yourself in our affairs…duh
How about just following the law.
IN JAILS WE TRUST,,,THE DIVIDED STATES OF TRUMPICA
The United States and Israel are definitely countries I WILL NEVER VISIT,,,, I'M FINE HERE IN CANADA,,,
That is exactly right, correct, TRUTH you do NOT know. People just spew out 🤮 they have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about. A few people were honest enough to at least say admitting they do not know
No one should be traveling to the USA under this organization
Omg.
multiple drug infractions?
Thousands of People die at home every day. To saying being in custody caused the death is simply ignorant!
Multiple convictions on drug offenses, yet he is a victim.😆😆😆
It's too bad for him, Canada. Maybe you should stay home
Protect "our own", right.
It is the radical judges' fault that this man died. ICE would have immediately deported him, BUT these radical activist judges trying to hold on to these illegals… talking about "due process." The man would have been living if he had taken the voluntary deportation. He knew his health was bad.
My wife is Canadian, we've been married for together since 2010. F Trump and hus clown car of misfits for what they've done to this country.
Oh Canada… Speaking as an American, I am SO SORRY! I am SO ASHAMED of my country right now! For what it's worth, it's my belief that the whole Trump/MAGA phenomenon is the result of an undeclared cold war launched against the U.S. by Vladimir Putin in response to the sanctions imposed by the Magninsky Act. Putin essentially won WW3 without firing a single shot. As I see it, America is now little more than a Russian colony, and our so-called 'president' is nothing more than a puppet of the Kremlin and/or the billionaire class. Please understand that the way things are now, simply posting these views to a social media platform could potentially put my freedom at risk, as I belong to a marginalized segment of the population. However, I feel like it's important to do everything that I possibly can to resist Trump's authoritarian regime. That said – I hope that Canada will soon consider the possibility of taking America off of the 'safe nations ' list, and potentially open it's doors to those of us who are now under threat from our own government. Being an American right now is actually extremely scary. Where do we go to get away from crazy people who have taken over our government?
The decision to deport should be made _by the court that convicts him_, not a politicized bureaucrat in some department of the executive branch.
America is now officially a third world country… they were really starting to do better through bidens cleanup after trumps first disaster of a term.
Where are the human rights, trump and regimes preaching to the world, American held dearly to the core.😂
nobody come to travel to los angeles now.
"Death shouldn't happen". That's news to me.
Do not trust our government!
Why detain!
Drug dealer and fiend was a 'legal resident' 😂
No. You break the law as a guest in the country you are no longer allowed here.
Canada better do something dont be scared of the usa
Sue the crp out of ICE
He was Canadian no one cares.
The man in question met his just destination!
Imagine how many deaths under ICE we don't know about.
Another bites the dust he is evil
Trump is just the enabler of the American people: a racist group that considers itself superior.
He just opened the bottle and the genie is out.
Unfortunately, the same genie is buried inside all Western nations.
Canadians, British, Germans, etc., are annoyed when this behaviour is directed against them. But they are the same deep inside. They share a similar education.
If Russian citizens are massacred inside a Stadium while listening to music they just shrug their shoulders off. If Palestinian children are killed by snipers, it does not command attention.
They think the world is a pyramid and anglo-saxons are at the top (and Americans at the tip). Everyone else has a position down the pyramid.
I'm American, this is sick and disgusting and his family needs to sue the Trump administration!!!
People of the world 🌍, plz don't come here to the US if you value your freedom, you may be deported to another 3rd whole country bcuz that's what we are now!!! We are living in Trump's Dystopian Hellscape now!!!!
Don't blame Canada!!!
I find what is happening now is really scary.
I feel Americans are gonna put all the negative info forward to make excuses for this. Bottom line… USA is unsafe for Canadians so do not go… EVER!!
Welcome to the U.S.S.A
His cause of his death hasn’t been released.
Keep in mind HE dealt drugs and is probably responsible for a few deaths himself for his own selfish financial gain. His dealings have surely killed, broken families, & caused addictions and financial hardship to the addicted and their families with no remorse on his part.
LMAO!!! "Death shouldn't happen." LMAO! Utter nonsense.
Boy yeah it is safe to come to your country
Don’t travel to US. You might not get to return home
My dad is stuck in ICE custody because THEY lost his passport. He was supposed to be home 2 weeks ago. And now they have no timelines or resolutions. He’s 62 years old with a heart condition. I need him home and I have no idea what to do 😭😭😭😭😭
1:20 people are not getting their meds to.
Ironic that USA repeats USSR. ICE = NKVD.
