U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters he expects to decide by the end of the day Thursday whether his threat of sweeping 25 per cent tariffs will apply to Canadian oil imports.
“We may or may not, we’re going to make that determination probably tonight on oil,” he said.
“We’ll see. It depends on what the price is. If the oil is properly priced, if they treat us properly – which they don’t.”
He had earlier been asked if energy imports from Canada would be exempt and replied, “oil is going to have nothing to do with it as far as I’m concerned.”
Trump also suggested that the tariffs may rise “with time.”

10% Tarrif on Oil should have ZERO impact on employment rate in Alberta. It's like assuming the oil price is 60 Instead of 65. Also for over 5 years oil and gas companies sold oil around 70-85 dollars. That mean they have a lot of resrve fund. Alberta government should mandate oil and gas industry to have Zero unemployment related to tarrifs. Specially now that Alberta has TMX the impact of 5 dollars cheaper is not even sensed. So if they start mass lay offs that means everything was planned for to create a fake economy BUST.

The fentanyl is definitely not coming from Canada. It’s coming into Canada. When it comes to subsidizing Canada financially don’t do that but why punish Canadian citizens with tariffs we had nothing to do with this. It was the government. We will truly suffer as citizens, and it was the government that got us in this position. We are already suffering from high inflation due to Covid, and all the illegal immigrants / immigrants that have entered Canada when we didn’t have enough housing for the people here, we have a lot of land but not housing . All that did was put the cost of housing and food through the roof. I don’t think the government ever thought about where exactly all these people are supposed to live and didn’t care that our property tax would go up or the rent would go up.
