Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Tandyo Budi Revita, spoke at the opening of the exercise at the Naval Staff and Command College in Jakarta on Monday.
“The exercise covers key areas, including operational-level staff exercises, cyber defense drills, and field exercises that test combat readiness and interoperability between countries,” he said.
Running from Monday to Thursday, the training includes staff exercises focusing on decision-making and operations orders, cyber exercises addressing identification, securing, and defense against cyber threats, as well as airborne operations, jungle field training, special forces, and amphibious operations.
The program also features engineering civil action projects, such as village infrastructure development, and combined arms live-fire exercises.
General Revita noted that global security challenges are increasingly complex, spanning natural disasters to geopolitical tensions. He emphasized that Super Garuda Shield 2025 serves as a platform for joint training and rapid, precise responses to these challenges.
“The drills aim not only to strengthen military capabilities but also to build mutual trust, friendship, and solidarity,” he said. “Let us make this exercise a source of inspiration to strengthen unity, enhance preparedness, and reaffirm our joint commitment to peace and stability.”
A total of 6,501 personnel from 13 countries are participating. Indonesia, as host, contributes 4,105 personnel, while the United States sends 1,347. Other participants include Japan (490), Australia (254), South Korea (100), the Netherlands (84), Singapore (62), Canada (35), France (10), Germany (4), Brazil (4), New Zealand (3), and the UK (3).
The exercises take place across multiple locations: the Naval Staff and Command College in Jakarta, the TNI Peacekeeping Mission Center in West Java, the Indonesian Army Combat Training Center in South Sumatra, and the Marine Combat Training Center IX in Riau Islands.
