Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday that sweeping tariffs by U.S. President Donald Trump are “a very dumb thing to do,” while warning Canadians of a “tough road ahead.”
Trudeau made the comments after the first round of U.S. tariffs and Canada’s counter-tariffs went into effect Tuesday, marking the start of a trade war between the long-time North American allies.
“To my fellow Canadians, I won’t sugarcoat it. This is going to be tough, even though we’re going to pull together because that’s what we do,” he said at a press conference in Ottawa.
In addition to the counter-tariffs, Ottawa will also file dispute resolution claims at the World Trade Organization and through the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

I like to think this speech made Justin Trudeau the most powerful man in the World even if for a moment which made Trade Markets listen to him down there in the US. Even Lawrence O'Donnell last night talked about that on his tv program The Last Word. All this because Trump allowed it with his thoughtless actions.
He seems so pessimistic. To the point of being stupid.. It's a shame.. I hope Trudeau realizes that it's just a process!!

This isn't about tariffs, this and everything Drumpf has done thus far is an attack on our democracy and a move toward dictatorship, and annexation of others,(while he takes their resources). We also want our provincial leaders to do something about the high cost of rents in Ontario too. Doug Ford MUST act fast in rent control and he MUST ALSO CLOSE THE TWO LOOPHOLES IN THE LANDLORD & TENANT ACT. 1. Cap new rental on the market where landlords can increase new available units to whatever they want. 2. Do away with the ABOVE THE GUIDELINES RENT INCREASES for repairs to the building so landlords are not passing their building maintenance on to the tenants, who are already paying high rents. It is not fair, the provincial government can offer loans to landlords at a low interest rate so they can afford to cover their cost of doing business as big Corporations landlords.
Come on Doug Ford, Ontario’s renters can’t afford the buy food these days because all their money goes to rent. Seniors and low income families are struggling to make their rents and we are being priced out of an affordable rents in Ontario.
