Canada’s canola industry is urging Ottawa to act as farmers brace for steep losses after China announced a planned 75.8 per cent preliminary tariff on canola seed from Canada.
The Canola Council of Canada says the levy “effectively closes” the Chinese market to the industry.
China said the measure would start Thursday, nearly a year after it launched an anti-dumping probe in response to Canada’s 100 per cent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles.

Canola farmers better start looking for other crops to grow, as people start to realize that processed oils are not as healthy as they were sold to everyone, people will start moving back to animal fats and non processed products and you farmers are going to suffer more.
