Trade Minister Budi Santoso stated that the achievement reflected the big potential of Indonesia’s fashion industry, especially in modest or Muslim fashion.
“Our fashion exports increased from January to September, rising by 4.56 percent. Now the value has reached US$6.5 billion,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Santoso noted that the increase in exports reflected the high competitiveness of Indonesian Muslim fashion products.
According to him, this achievement also provides momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global Muslim fashion hub.
“If our products already meet export standards, imported products can be curbed indirectly. If we use good domestic products, we will not need to buy foreign products,” he remarked.
The minister said that during the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2026, held from November 6–9, 2025, there will be the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and trade contracts with several foreign buyers worth US$12.28 million.
Furthermore, prospective buyers from foreign countries are attending the Muslim fashion exhibition and promotion event, including those from Malaysia, France, Italy, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan, Sudan, Iran, and Bahrain.
The Ministry of Trade is committed to continuing to strengthen assistance for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so they can penetrate the global market. This assistance includes product curation, design development, and export training.
“We want MSMEs and the community to benefit from our exports. We want all parties to be able to participate in exports, whether they are large companies, medium enterprises, or small ones,” he said.
