Johannesburg, South Africa (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended a MIKTA (Middle Power Cooperation Forum) meeting and held several bilateral talks with partner countries on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday.

During the MIKTA session, which brings together Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia, the Indonesian government commended South Korea for its 2025 chairmanship.

“On this occasion, Indonesia congratulates South Korea for its leadership of MIKTA this year, and next year it will be chaired by Australia,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said in a press statement in Johannesburg on Saturday (November 22).

Hartarto said the Vice President also held several pull-aside meetings during the G20 Summit.

The bilateral talks were held with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the President of Angola, who also chairs the African Union, the President of Finland, the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

During the meeting, Ethiopia conveyed its interest in Indonesia’s agricultural sector, particularly palm oil.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Arrmanatha Natsir said the six bilateral meetings generally focused on efforts to strengthen economic cooperation.

He also noted Angola’s interest in expanding cooperation with Indonesia in the agricultural sector, especially in plantation commodities such as coffee and cocoa.

The G20 Summit in South Africa made history as the first top-level meeting ever hosted on African soil.

The Summit, themed “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability,” also marked the conclusion of the Global South’s consecutive G20 presidencies, starting with Indonesia in 2022 and followed by India, Brazil and South Africa.
