In a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Monday, he noted that the secure rice and corn availability has been achieved due to the hard work of the government and strong support from relevant stakeholders.
He noted that, based on Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, rice production from January to December 2025 is projected to reach 34.77 million tons, higher than the target of 32 million tons.
This, according to him, places Indonesia in a strong position to meet national rice needs while maintaining price stability across all regions.
Sulaiman also mentioned that national rice stocks once reached 4.2 million tons, indicating that production increased significantly, higher than the government’s initial projections.
He further noted that projections from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reinforce this optimism, with Indonesia’s rice production for the 2024–2025 planting season projected to reach 34.6 million tons.
Similarly, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicted Indonesia’s rice production could surpass 35.6 million tons in 2025, demonstrating stronger and more sustainable self-sufficiency.
Meanwhile, for corn, the production of dry shelled corn with a 14 percent moisture content is estimated to reach 16.55 million tons in 2025, 9.34 percent higher than last year, ensuring feed needs are met without imports.
Several other strategic commodities, such as chili, shallots, coconut, palm oil, rubber, and cocoa, also showed significant increases, with production realization reaching over 85 percent of the target.
In addition, the livestock sector also recorded high achievements with the stable production of cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, and eggs.
