“Human resource development is the key to a thriving and successful nation. A lack of education leads to failed states. No country can hope to remain stable and prosper if its people are illiterate or unable to keep pace with modern science and technology,” Prabowo said.
The president explained that the Indonesian government has renovated 16,140 schools and implemented an education digitalization program, including the installation of interactive flat panels in 288,000 schools across the country.
“Next year, in 2026, we will add another one million interactive smart panels so that every school will have at least three to four classrooms equipped with this technology. Within three years, we hope all schools in Indonesia will have at least six classrooms with digital interactive panels,” he said.
Prabowo added that the government plans to modernize and renovate 60,000 schools and build 1,000 integrated comprehensive schools equipped with modern facilities, including advanced laboratories.
The head of state also said the government is establishing 10 new universities and is in discussions with leading universities in Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America to develop partnerships aimed at creating campuses of international standard.
“I am discussing and negotiating with some of the best universities to twin them and develop universities in Indonesia with international standards,” he said.
The World Economic Forum is an annual global forum held since 1971 in Davos, Switzerland, bringing together world leaders, economists, academics, experts, and practitioners to discuss global economic challenges and future outlooks.
Prabowo’s participation marked Indonesia’s return to the forum after more than a decade. The first Indonesian president to attend the WEF was Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who delivered a speech on environmentally friendly economic development in 2011.
