A big chunk of a flank of the volcanic Anak Krakatau island slipped into the ocean and triggered a tsunami that hit Indonesian shores, killing lots of of individuals, officers and scientists mentioned on Monday.
A minimum of 281 individuals have been killed, lots of injured and lots of buildings have been closely broken when the tsunami struck, nearly with out warning, alongside the rim of the Sunda Strait, between Java and Sumatra islands, late on Saturday.
Anak Krakatau had been spewing ash and lava for months earlier than a 64-hectare (0.64 sq. km) part of the southwest aspect of the volcano collapsed, an Indonesian official mentioned.

I feel for all the people who lost there life & who were hurt.
The Sumatran book of kings, an ancient text says that once Sumatra and Java were one island until a great cataclysm. Then in 1883 the island that lived there previously, Krakatoa, erupted out of all three of its peaks at once, causing a collapse so great, sea water got in. The resulting explosion was the loudest noise ever heard by humans. It launched 5cu/mi of rock into the sky, erasing an island almost the size of Manhattan creating a 100 foot high tsunami that killed about 35,000 people and was heard as far away as Australia… its one of the reasons why stratavarius violins produced later sound so good. The resulting volcanic winter and global cooling was reflected in the densely packed rings of trees… that wood, used for instruments makes elegant and desirable tones. This new volcano, is still a small child… not even a teenager yet. If it follows in daddy’s footprints, with the population levels of today, they’ll be finding bodies in Capetown S.A. And swirling around Antarctica for a decade.
what dickhead put subties covering the volcano?
the footage used in 08.00 isnt the explosion that caused the tsunami. the tsunami hit at night
i am from Indonesia and i lost my father 2 days ago. Because of the Tsunami.😭😭😭

This is eerily close to the last major eruption in 1883, though I'm not sure what sort of scale Anak Krakatau is in compared to it's 'big brother' Krakatoa. The problem with the last eruption is that nobody realized the chain of volcanoes was actually part of one super-massive caldera remnant and when it erupted and emptied (most) of the magma chamber it collapsed in on itself allowing the sea-water to rush in and cause a super-massive explosion.
The last time Krakatoa erupted it followed this pattern – rumblings for months, a major eruption, a warning tsunami and then a collapse followed by an explosion of super-heated steam from within the nearly-empty magma chamber and a wave of pyroclastic flow which rode across the bed of salt-water steam that surrounded it, there was a second bigger tsunami as the rest of the volcano structure collapsed and it had lethal effects for 80 miles in all directions, with total effects stretching far across the world.
The tsunami that has just hit highlights a worrying lack of a warning system for these areas and a tragic number of lives have already been lost.
I hope and pray it's no-where near the scale of the last eruption, that the volcano will now settle after venting the excess magma from within it's chambers.
But I would not like to be within that immediate danger zone until it has quietened down and I hope they've heeded the warnings and moved the locals from those areas.
The sad thing is, Krakatoa/Krakatau and tsunamis are nothing new. This volcano is known for causing devastating tsunamis, particularly the one in 1883.

WHY HASN'T THE U.S. NEWS ADDRESSED THIS?!!!!
it would be nice to see the eruption that blew off 2/3rds of the mountain
