Within the final week, a number of main volcano associated information tales broke. In Alaska, the Mount Edgecumbe volcano close to the city of Sitka produced an sudden swarm of a number of hundred earthquakes, suggesting that magma is on the transfer at depth. In the meantime in Australia, sturdy thermal signatures had been detected on Heard Island, indicating {that a} new eruption might have begun. And, in Iceland, a sequence of earthquake swarms occurred close to the Blue Lagoon scorching springs, which can have been volcanic in origin. This video will talk about these volcano associated information tales, as advised and analyzed by a volcanologist.

I want to remind everyone to approach the satellite inferred uplift of Mount Edgecumbe with a degree of skepticism. Snow and ice rich regions cause absurdly high margins of error for ground deformation detection. Thus, although the signal does look like a compelling 2-4 cm of uplift over the last 12 months, it has not yet been verified as such.
Update! I made a mistake at the end of the video when listing the volcanoes showing unrest. What is labeled as "Raung" should instead be "Ruang" (yes they are 2 separate volcanoes).
Thanks for the Update. Be interesting to see what happens with Edgecumbe in the next few weeks to years…
have a like
I'm excited at the prospect of a Ruapehu eruption.
I was five years old in 1996 when it erupted for a few days, Covering my area in Ash (I remember the whole family being at home because we couldn't drive cars due to the Ashfall) I really wanted to become a volcanologist because of it.
Wait, you're saying Edgecumbe isn't famous for its April Fool's event??
I look forward to the Weekly volcano report. Is it still 51 I think to myself.
Im tilling the Gods to destroy this world today in forever
O yeah, i hope the mother nature destroy us .
Off to Iceland on June 15 so fingers crossed its still open
I love this! Really needed this today
Question. When looking at a map, I have always thought, simplistically, that land on the left was west and land on the right was east. But that is not how you described something in this vid. Am I missing something?.

love all your videos, thanks for the hard work.
You should team up with cinema sins as Neil DeGrasse Tyson did and do a series of reviews on movies with volcanoes as the centerpiece. I'd love to hear your take on how good or bad the film did capturing the reality of the cinematic events.
Is there enough sulfur dioxide entering the upper atmosphere to cause prolonged climate cooling on a global scale? Thank you.
51! Wow! I had no idea it was that many. I really love your channel. Thank you.
Be brave to give up the festive tinsel and the sparkle of artificial lights. Come out into the open space of the universe! Discover distant worlds for yourself; conquer the dazzling snow-white summits of divine consciousness within yourself!
With all these Volcanoes erupting at one time with or without lava….are they not adding to the rising global temperature!?
You have me hooked. Volcano news is now something I would rather not do without.
I'd love to see an overview video about volcanic lakes! Or some certain interesting volcanic lake. There are so many kinds with amazing properties. I used to have a book about them but I've lost it and haven't been able to remember the title. I had it on iBooks when that was a thing.
Can you do a follow up with the latest info about Sao George in the Acores?
Campi Flegrei seems to have an all time high of activity….. Maybe you are right about evacuating some areas.
Is there any possibility of a current volcanic complex, that has never before, turning into a super volcano?
I am ecstatic I found this channel
We live right across from the volcanoes there are 9 or 10 domes yes there are hot springs here which we know magma underneath.it is frightening we are on an island more like a rock which means either get on a boat or fly out
Toba and other super volcanoes must have coincided with the 12,000 yr galactic current sheet cycle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihwoIlxHI3Q Do you have any connections to make with this cosmic cycle?
Does a full moon increase volcano activity? The 2021 Iceland volcano seemed to get more active during the full moon.
@GeologyHub Do you think you could do a video that updates us on the latest research regarding meteorite impact origin for hotspots like the one currently below Yellowstone?
Exactly on my birthday too..
Show topic: We all have herd of Mt Rainer, Mt St. Helens and Yellowstone. You have covered a few lesser know volcanos in the lower 48. I found that very interesting. Could you do a video covering more of the lesser knows that could have potential in the continental US? Thanks
Do Lake Elygytgyn in Russia!
Excellent report. Thank you.
Thank you š
Edgecumb kinda looks like a small Mt Rainier…. spooky..
Bye
what you called blue lagoon in this video is not blue lagoon it is thermal power plant 3:40 you can see the blue lagoon on the right
I live near Nevado del Ruiz in Colombia. It's the most active I've seen in quite a while. Large plumes of ash and smoke. My car was covered the other day. Last time it blew was in '85. It's one to watch. Very deadly volcano.
I'm very interested in volcanic activity in Africa š
Very informative, thank you!
Iād love to see a report on Sutter Buttes.
Somebody needs to organize a protest to stop these volcanoes…. š¤£ Excellent presentation by the way.
It might be interesting if they told me what's erupting now like I asked..š
Anak krakatau has erupted to day…
