Over 90 farmers, volunteers and land reform advocates have been detained for over 18 hours on the Concepcion Police Station in Tarlac after police arrested them yesterday on a chunk of disputed farmland in Hacienda Tinang.
The group was conducting bungkalan, or a land cultivation exercise, when police arrived and arrested them. A few of these arrested have been farmers who have been beneficiaries of an agrarian reform program within the space.
One group, Sama-Samang Artista para sa Kilusang Agraryo (SAKA, Artists’ Alliance for Real Agrarian Reform), stated that fifty of their artists have been detained and condemned the arrests in a Fb publish.
